People Search

I'm sitting at my desk, minding my own business, when my cell phone suddenly begins vibrating beside me. I glance down at the display. Incoming call from "Restricted." I roll my eyes and ignore it. Not only do I not know who is calling me, but I don't want to be disturbed now, which is the reason I had the thing set on vibrate in the first place.

Several minutes pass. I'm tapping away at the keys again, probably typing up some interesting and witty blog post, when it happens again. This time, rather than just getting a call from "Restricted," I see some random number. My first thought is: "Nice try, but I'm not falling for the age-old prank call." My second thought is a bit different: "Who in the heck...?"

Rather than answer the phone and listen to my friends laughing hysterically on the other line, deal with a stranger looking for someone named "Bob" or better yet, listen to a COMPUTER RECORDING, I decide to put on my deerstalker cap and whip out my detective skills. Putting my keyboard to a different use, I quickly pull up a certain website and trace the number back to its owner.

I sit back in my seat and sigh a contented sigh. "Elementary, My dear Watson."
